About Us
Troy10 North Market Street Troy, Ohio is located 20 miles north of Dayton. It is the home of two annual festivals, the Strawberry Festival which is held the first weekend in June on the river levy and the Festival of Nations which takes place in August in the City Square. Troy was established in 1807 and was incorporated in 1814. Transportation to and from Troy in the early days was by rail, river, and the Erie Canal which was built through the city in 1837. The first house in Troy, built in 1808 by Benjamin Overfield, was used as a school, inn, church, and courthouse. It still stands today on the corner of Water and Mulberry Streets where it is maintained as a museum. |
