Career Opportunities at CSH

Career Max News

It’s never too early to start preparing for your career. Our quarterly newsletter will help you stay up to date on what’s happening at CSH, and provide tips and strategies to use as you transition from college into a full-time role.

CPA Achievement Programs

You want to earn your CPA license, and at CSH, we want that too! This achievement demonstrates not only a thorough understanding of theories and concepts; it also shows a dedication to continuous self-improvement and to the profession as a whole. Earning your CPA is a big accomplishment – it’s a personal badge of honor.

Clark Schaefer Hackett recognizes that acquiring your CPA is a commitment and investment in your professional career. While getting this certification is your responsibility, the firm supports and encourages your efforts to pass the CPA exam.

To help, CSH offers incentives, including paying for all full-time associates to enroll in a CPA exam review course (up to $2,500), exam fee reimbursement, and financial rewards for passing the CPA exam.

CSH Culture

Committed to REAL Values

Imagine a place where your talent is cultivated and people value your unique perspective. A place that has high expectations and encourages growth, achievement and continuous learning. A place that inspires and empowers you and is invested in your success. Imagine yourself at Clark Schaefer Hackett.

At CSH, we behave according to a set of REAL Values that drive our behaviors and decisions. They rest on this belief: to achieve greatness, we must first care for each other and serve our clients. That’s why we show Respect, achieve Excellence, embrace Accountability, and demonstrate Leadership.

By living these values, we thrive as a team and grow as a firm. We welcome you to join us on this journey.

Service the CSH Way

At Clark Schaefer Hackett, we are passionate about service. Every day of our professional lives, we aspire to create something remarkable with our clients.

While it may seem like common sense to strive to deliver excellent service consistently and dependably, the truth is that few firms put the right framework in place to make it happen.

CSH is different. We understand that doing the work and serving the client are not the same thing. One is about numbers, the other is about relationships. So we don’t just offer you avenues to strengthen technical capabilities. We also provide you the tools and resources to support your relational success.

One of those is a book called The CSH Way. Unique in the industry, it stands as our firm’s guide to creating remarkable relationships. And it outlines – for every member of this firm – a common understanding of the client experience that CSH seeks to deliver.

This book gives our firm – and you – an advantage. By arming yourself with the knowledge and techniques proven to win and retain clients, you’ll be ahead of your peers at other firms. You’ll have the ability to impress and engage clients, and no matter what level you’re at, that skill will benefit you throughout your career.

Serving our Communities

Our mission is to better the lives of our clients, people and communities. Many of our employees volunteer their time and talent to improve the lives of others. Read an example of how one of our Young Professionals groups is making a difference.

CSH Internships

You’re looking for a real-world, hands-on internship experience where you learn by doing. You also want to serve a variety of clients and industries, and get feedback on your work to help you improve. And you want to feel valuable and valued from the first day. We’ve got all that – and more – at Clark Schaefer Hackett.

So, What Will You Be Doing?

As a CSH intern, you’ll be in a full-time, paid position, treated as if you are in a Staff I role, so you will get the actual experience of what it’s like to begin your career here.

Depending on which track you choose – audit or tax – you’ll perform audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements, or work on client tax returns.

A Unique Program

Your Clark Schaefer Hackett experience will be unlike any other public accounting internship. We’ve structured a program that supports your growth as a professional – not just as an accountant. It includes personal development, leadership development and technical training.

At our firm, interns have more opportunity for direct client experience. You’ll be part of a team that advises business owners, presidents, and CFOs, so your work will make a significant impact.

Success Right Out Of The Gate

To start your internship, you get two full weeks of instruction before you get to your desk. During this onboarding, one week of training will be specific to tax or audit, including the industry’s leading accounting systems and software. The other week will include an introduction to CSH culture, values, policies and processes.

For the duration of your internship, you’ll be paired with a CSH Buddy – likely a Staff I associate – who will be able to answer questions and help you navigate the firm. In short, you’re given what you need from the start, so you’re learning and contributing every day.

At Clark Schaefer Hackett, we created CSH MAX – a firmwide program that encourages your professional growth and achievement. For college students, that means you’ll have everything you need to transition from university life to a rewarding and successful career.

Professional Development

Line of Sight – You’re ambitious. You expect to take on responsibility, be recognized and rewarded, move up, and make a difference in the firm. You have a vision of where you’re headed, and where you want to be. So you just need to know the path to get there. CSH MAX will help bring your future into focus.

We’ve eliminated the guesswork about what it takes to get promoted. The firm’s career progression model outlines the skills and competencies required at every level of CSH.

With the help of your coach or mentor, you can identify, and master, the abilities and behaviors that you need to move up to the next level.

In the next step, we’ll ask you to come to us. In October we interview select candidates in our offices and extend job offers to students for both entry-level and internship positions. Job offers are normally extended before the end of October.

How to apply:

To be considered for an entry-level Staff Accountant or Internship position, we recommend that you apply through your school’s online/e-recruiting system. If we are not formally recruiting at your school, you are welcome to submit a resume.
