Philip Hurak, MBA, JD, and Kevin Dehner, CPA, have been named as new Shareholders for Clark Schaefer Hackett (CSH), a top 100 CPA and advisory firm.

“We are excited to have Phil and Kevin join our team to enrich the strategic business guidance we provide to our clients and we are confident they will be instrumental in helping us achieve our mission”, said Kerry Roe, CSH President. “Phil is a multifaceted advisor who will help clients achieve strategic cost savings and business growth goals. His State and Local Tax (SALT) expertise is immense and we look forward to him leading our SALT practice. Kevin’s extensive business advisory skills will be invaluable to clients across multiple industries. Kevin is well regarded throughout the Cincinnati market as both a professional leader and an energetic community volunteer.”

Here’s some additional information about each of them.

About Phil Hurak

Hurak, who is based in Cincinnati, has a passion for taking challenging problems and turning them into solutions that help clients grow. His experience includes identifying, quantifying and securing sources of strategic tax and non-tax savings at the Federal, State, and Local levels.  Specifically, he has assisted clients with audit assistance, refund identification, tax credits and abatements, cash grants and savings, utility cost reductions, tax-advantaged rulings, discounted/free land and bond financing. Hurak is adept at leveraging economic development incentives which offer substantial financial benefits for his clients. He provides extensive economic development expertise and has served both private and public sector organizations in over 100 jurisdictions.

“CSH is on a strong growth trend — both in service expansion and strategic mid-market client development. I have found that many mid-market clients can benefit from the deep tax and business advisory skills offered by large international firms but often don’t have access to nuanced tax insights — such as optimizing State and Local taxes.  CSH understands the needs of mid-market clients and can provide much of the same expert guidance available at large firms. I look forward to leading the SALT practice and bringing the value of these services to clients of CSH,” said Hurak.

Hurak earned a JD and MBA from the University of Dayton and a BS in Business Administration and Finance from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Ohio Bar, is an alumni of the Cincinnati Chamber C-Change Class 6, and is a sought after speaker at industry events. After hours, Hurak can be found volunteering as a soccer coach at St. Mary School in Hyde Park.

Dehner has served as a business advisor for public, private, domestic and multinational companies from a broad-based industry profile including consumer products, technology, power & utilities and industrial products.
