Candy DeClark named a 2010 Woman of Excellence

November 18, 2010

Clark Schaefer Hackett Shareholder Candy DeClark Peace has been named a 2010 Woman of Excellence through the West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance.

The Chamber describes their Women of Excellence as follows: “Through their current careers or volunteer work, these women have enhanced business, education, culture, philanthropy or have provided outstanding service to our region.”  The Awards Gala will be held November 19th at the Cincinnati Marriott North at Union Center.

Candy makes our firm and our community a better place through her service, leadership, mentoring, and generosity. Candy has built an incredible business and philanthropic background for herself over the years. Candy has shared that “giving back isn’t just thanking those who got you where you are; it is taking the spirit of those who helped you and employing that spirit to help others.”

Candy has worked, often at more than one job, from the time she was 16.  She attended the University of Cincinnati on a full tuition scholarship through the Woodward Foundation, while continuing to work, and still – always – volunteering.  Upon graduation, she began work for the Internal Revenue Service.
In 1977 she received a Masters Degree in Finance from UC.  Candy left the IRS to attend Law School, and in 1978 began her career with Clark Schaefer Hackett in our Middletown office.

Since her childhood, Candy has been aware of two things: one person’s kindness can transform someone’s life, and hard work is the key to achieving your goals.  She’s taken those lessons to heart by working tirelessly in her profession and in the community.  Candy has filled her every waking moment with a commitment to making her small piece of the world a better place.
