For the past two years, regional accounting firm Clark Schaefer Hackett has partnered with Cincinnati’s DePaul Cristo Rey High School to provide a real-world work experience. The school’s Corporate Work Study Program pairs students with local businesses for a mutually beneficial relationship: the companies get reliable help with administrative tasks, and the students gain experience, confidence and connections with local professionals, as well as financial support for college-prep education.

“We greatly value our partnership with Clark Schaefer Hackett,” said Lisa Claytor, director of the DePaul Cristo Rey Corporate Work Study Program. “This partnership and our program help to put Cincinnati’s future to work by providing meaningful professional experiences to students now, while preparing them to fill future professional roles in our city. DPCR serves students whose families wouldn’t otherwise afford a private education, so our partners are also key to our mission that quality education can help lift young people out of poverty.”

The Corporate Work Study Program has had many success stories, and Clark Schaefer Hackett is one of the 100+ dedicated partnerships the school has with local companies.

“This is a great program – we’re thrilled to have another group of DePaul Cristo Rey students assisting us again this year,” said John Moster, CPA, who is in charge of Clark Schaefer Hackett’s Cincinnati office. “The students we welcome are consistently assets to our team, and we’re honored to be able to provide an inclusive and instructive professional experience – the first for some of these students – in return.”

While the students will be working on site at Clark Schaefer Hackett, the firm’s nearly 400 employees also lend their time and talents to a wide variety of schools, non-profits, and other organizations in the region. “Our partnership with DePaul Cristo Rey is just one example of our firm’s involvement and investment in the local community,” said Brian Todd, Not-For-Profit Industry Chair at Clark Schaefer Hackett.
