Dayton, OH – July 2, 2020

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans (the ERISA Advisory Council) announced that Jim Haubrock, Shareholder at Clark Schaefer Hackett, has been appointed to serve as a Special Government Employee (SGE) member of the Advisory Council in the Accounting category. In an appointment lasting until December 31, 2022, Jim will be responsible for providing his best independent judgment in developing advice and recommendations for the Department’s considerations.

The Advisory Council is a federal advisory committee established by ERISA and subject to the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Section 512(b) of ERISA provided that it shall be the duty of the Advisory Council to advise the Secretary with respect to carrying out the secretarial functions under the Act and to submit recommendations with respect to those functions.

Jim Haubrock, CPA, CGMA, is a nationally recognized expert in employee benefit plan audits and is the former chair of the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center (EBPAQC) Executive Committee. Jim also is a former member of the AICPA Governing Council, former President of the Ohio Society of CPAs and current member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He is a licensed CPA in the State of Ohio.

Jim leads CSH’s Employee Benefit Plan Audit Services Group, one of the top 30 firms nationally to audit employee benefit plans. Under his leadership, the firm conducts about 400 employee benefit plan audits annually with zero deficiencies. Jim’s colleagues recognize his business acumen in benefit plan audits, and he is a sought-after speaker who frequently presents at national and regional conferences including the AICPA Employee Benefit Plan National Conference and the OSCPA Conference.

“Jim exemplifies our values of bettering the lives of our clients, people and communities. He is an energetic and committed volunteer who dedicates countless hours to maintain high standards for CPAs within the accounting industry. We are extraordinarily proud of the ongoing contributions that Jim makes to the accounting profession and we are confident he will work tirelessly to support the objectives of the Council,” said Kerry Roe, President of CSH.
