The end of July is almost here and there are three important deadlines affecting retirement and health welfare plans that plan sponsors need to have top-of-mind.
The Form 5500 and Form 8955-SSA must be filed by July 31st. If you are not going to meet the filing deadline, a Form 5558 (Application for Extension of Time to File Certain Employee Benefit Forms) must be postmarked by July 31, 2015.
Self-funded Health Insurance Plans and employers who offer Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA) must file Form 720 by July 31, 2015. The form is used to report and pay the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Fee. This return can’t be extended.
