Larry Powell, a Shareholder in Clark, Schaefer, Hackett & Co.’s Middletown office recently earned his Certified Divorce Financial AnalystTM (CDFA) designation to assist divorcing couples with the financial ramifications of a legal settlement. Larry holds a certification from the Institute for Divorce Financial AnalystsTM (IDFA), a national organization based in Southfield, MI. He also has expertise in tax and wealth planning issues for closely held companies’ owners and their families.
Working with his clients and their attorneys, Larry works to forecast the long-term effects of divorce settlements. Developing comprehensive insight of the short and long-term financial effects of divorce can save valuable time, money and distress, especially if the process is conducted early in the legal proceedings.
“Misinformation and misconceptions about the divorce process can be detrimental,” says Powell. “In many instances, bad decisions are made due to the emotions involved. I’m there to help prevent long-term regret with the permanent financial decisions made during the divorce process.”
Larry is a member of the Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts, Institute of Certified Financial Planners, Ohio Society of CPAs, and American Institute of CPAs.
