What you need to know about the Indiana Tax Amnesty Program

November 6, 2015

Share:

The State of Indiana is currently conducting a Tax Amnesty Program. The tax amnesty applies to all Indiana taxes that are administered by the Department of Revenue, for periods ending prior to January 1, 2013. In exchange for the filing and payment of past due taxes, Indiana will waive all penalties, interest and collection fees. The amnesty program ends on November 16, 2015.

Indiana’s Department of Revenue has mailed Tax Amnesty letters to all taxpayers that they have identified as potential non-filers of required tax returns or who have outstanding Indiana tax liabilities. If you have received one of these letters, we recommend that you either call the Indiana Tax Amnesty hotline (1-844-829-4680), or contact your Clark Schaefer Hackett tax advisor for assistance.

It is important to confirm that the State of Indiana has correct information. If the information that they have is incorrect, you’ll have the opportunity to address it with the State and correct their records. This should be done as soon as possible to preserve your ability to participate in the amnesty program, if necessary. Indiana plans to charge double penalties after the amnesty ends for any outstanding tax liabilities that qualified for amnesty but were not resolved under the amnesty program.
