To support social distancing and conserve resources, the IRS is urging taxpayers to submit tax returns and payments electronically this year. Although the tax deadline is extended to July 15, the IRS is still processing returns and issuing refunds to those who have already filed (and delivering Economic Impact Payments starting the week of April 13). The IRS has limited availability to process paper returns and provide other services related to non-electronic tax filing. In this News Release, the IRS lists several options for helping taxpayers file and remit payment electronically.
