David Albrecht is a tax controversy specialist with over 20 years experience. He handles federal and state tax controversies, representing individual and business clients at various stages of their controversy.

Earlier in his career, David was recruited from a professional financial services firm to work in the Criminal Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The experience he gained and the relationships he built while at the IRS give him the insight and expertise to make him an effective full time tax controversy expert.

David works on 75-100 crisis-level controversy cases per year, the majority of which he settles out of court. He has saved clients hundreds of millions of dollars in assessments during his tenure and has successfully negotiated with the IRS on tens of millions of dollars in penalty abatements across all industries.

David is a frequent speaker on tax controversy and IRS-related topics in the marketplace. He has presented for organizations including the New York State Society of CPAs. Internally, he brings his knowledge and expertise to CSH employee trainings on controversy topics.
